Surrounded by an extraordinary moss garden, we stayed at a Ryokan in Kyoto. The moss glimpsed through the cobblestones and rocks, and the sunlight was spilling from the trees. After designing, we decided to entrust it to the natural eventuality. Occasionally, people will create the tension they are aiming for. Intentionality and randomness, the gap between order and disorder. Nature cannot control everything. Make no mistake. Now that everything is swallowed digitally, as a counterculture, more natural comebacks will occur. With a single petal in a water bottle, you can imagine blooming trees. Because of the difficulty, we had the opportunity to face nature and capture it in our imagination.
苔庭が印象的な、京都の旅館に滞在した。石畳や岩から垣間見える苔、樹木から零れる日差し。設計した後は、自然の偶発性に委ねる。時折、人が手を入れることで狙った緊張感が生まれるのだろう。作為性と無作為性、秩序と無秩序の狭間。自然は全てをコントロールできない。ここを勘違いしてはいけない。全てがデジタルに飲み込まれる現在、カウンターカルチャーのように、自然回帰がさらに起きるだろう。水瓶の中に、一枚の花弁があることで、満開の花木を想像できる。困難だからこそ、見立てる力や、自然との向き合い方を捉える機会を得たのだ。
